Tone Poem
03:59
|
|||
This tone poem won't take too long.
It's only the length of a song:
The polychrome moon collides
with lands that appear before your eyes.
In backyard caves and far out climbs
the stranger takes his sweet time.
And there is nothing in this time but sweet time.

Light as a Feather
04:14
|
|||
I saw it
around the corner from my house.
We found it
under a rock in a vacant lot.
And the world was spinning.
It's a miracle that we even stand.
We break bread.
We're living now,
in the miracle.
Lost in love.
And we bend like reeds in the wind.
The feeling it sends
unbinds me
and mends me.
I heard it
down the alley from your apartment door.
And it sounded like a caterwaul.
Up from the gutters you have called.
And I thought of a feather
and the weight of the world had disappeared.
We have it here, now.
In the miracle.
Lost in love.
And we bend like reeds in the wind.
The feeling it sends
unbinds me
and mends me.

Windswept
04:34
|
|||
The morning left a fog
in the wake of last night's dreams.
The chill of winter shrouds their spellbound sounds
with a woven, whispered speech.
A stark sun pierced my eyes
from behind the leafless trees.
And our heavy heads are rising from their sleep
to walk the crooked streets.
The frozen miles.
The paths we've made.
The windswept hours have joined this dream.
It's good to know that you can feel this,
that you can be this awake.
A stark sun has pierced my eyes
from behind the leafless trees.
The ragged wind is wailing
like the sirens of the greeks.
And our heavy heads are rising from their sleep
to walk the crooked streets.
The frozen miles.
The paths we've made.
The windswept hours have joined this dream.
It's good to know that you can feel this,
that you can be this awake.

Carried by Waves
04:34
|
|||
This boat,
this boat is drifting
towards the shore where no one goes.
The mad seas
swept up and dragged me
far from you,
from the world I was used to.
Find a place to be where the sun breathes down your face,
and all of the good things that you hide
come to life.
Wanderlust
take me to the edge of us,
where the body ends and the soul begins.
The past haunts us.
The future's upon us.
And every breath is another step forward through the mess.
Find a place to be where the sun breathes down your face,
and all of the good things you hide
come to life.

Tyger Wine
05:46
|
|||
We offer you jewels.
We offer you diamonds.
We offer this fruit.
The fruit that has ripened.
We gather these things to make you feel welcome.
We dance and we sing with frenzied abandon.
And we say....
Drink up this Tyger Wine,
Let it make you crazy!
Drink up this Tyger Wine,
Let it make you howl out loud!
The whiskey brews in the caldron of my belly.
The spirits move all the weight that we have carried.
We laugh and we cry
as if there were no difference.
We sing through the night.
This is our religion.
Every sin, every vice,
It's all been forgiven.
A moment in time.
The whole of existence.
Drink up this Tyger Wine,
Let it make you crazy!
Drink up this Tyger Wine,
Let it make you howl out loud!
The whiskey brews in the caldron of my belly.
The spirits move all the weight that we have carried.

I Want What I Want
04:10
|
|||
There's just something about you.
Something I can't replace.
I'm acting purely on faith.
It tears me every which way.
You are a drop in this pond.
And I am a wave on the sea.
We are so small yet so large.
We are so bound yet so free.
And I want what I want, so bad.

Selah
06:05
|
|||
Swallowed by the fog.
Swallowed by the sea.
Swallowed by the gale.
The winds that carried me.
Swallowed by the fact of human frailty.
Swallowed by the chances you gave to me.
The fault is purely mine.
I tried to run and hide.
Like a weathered fugitive
or just a captive
to a restless mind,
one that never quits.
It leaves no absence.
No cave to crawl inside of.
Selah
Now I am the wave.
I am the monster.
With a twisted crooked spine
and steps that swagger.
Help me rectify.
Help me change my life.
I'm down on my knees
in hymns of pleading.
Selah
A languid melody
was all it used to be,
but now it's haunting
every breath I breathe.
The dirge begins to swell
like a tidal wave.
And all these words of woe
are washed in wrath and rage.
Swallowed by the fog.
Swallowed by the sea.
Swallowed by the gale.
The winds that carried me home.

Exquisite Corps Sacramento, California
In typical rock’n’roll fashion, Exquisite Corps emerged from a downtown garage in the spring of 2011. Beginning as a sextet, they have since proved to be anything but a typical band. With an original vision encompassing the lush power of a string trio (cello & two violins) melded with an indie rock trio (guitar, bass & drums) the band has evolved on the road into a full-fledged psych-art rock band ... more
